Published from 1984-1994, Parents & Kids Directory was New York's first magazine for families. A glossy, digest-sized magazine, it served as the centerpiece of a caring community of parents, schools, businesses, and civic institutions -- notably as the official membership magazine of the Children's Museum of Manhattan.

The magazine served the city's most affluent and involved parents by informing them of local opportunities for better health, education, and entertainment.

The magazine used many creative strategies to thrive during its lifetime. These included publishing a yearly datebook, being used as a subscriber premium for a national parenting magazine, and binding in premiums (like museum trading cards) for local advertisers.
