The Welch's Company, in late 2007, held a competition for product developers to come up with a new snack food product for children. Product developers Ross, Lia and Bill Weber created SnackBots, , which was chosen from hundreds of entries as a top prize winner.

SnackBots is an innovative way to package "trail-mix" type snacks. The soda-can-size container has chambers where healthy nuts and fruit pieces sit side-by side with fun seasonings like nacho cheese and yogurt powder.

Kids use a cardboard "feeding tube" to access the chambers, mix and match snackfood and seasonings, experiment, and have fun. All in an easy-to-use contraption that keeps the mess -- and adult intervention -- to a minimum.
